White and Gold : The irresistible trend
White and Gold have been a harmonious combination in bathrooms for the best part of the last century. What is really gaining momentum is the new trend combining these 2 elements in beautifully contemporary furniture and fittings around the home.
The Tom Dixon Beat Collection is a stunning example of this. This range is inspired by the sculptural simplicity of brass cooking pots and traditional water vessels on the subcontinent. The pendant shade is spun and hand-beaten by craftsmen in Northern India. The gloss white exterior adds a luxurious contrast with the hand beaten brass. http://www.tomdixon.net
Another notable design powerhouse spearheading the brass on white aesthetic has to be Bert Frank. The brushed brass with old English white is an irresistible combination on their Shear Pendent. It would add a touch of luxury to any contemporary home. http://bertfrank.co.uk
These candlesticks by pure brass have been turning quite a few heads at the home wares shows this year. With the ‘Pure White’ range, ‘Pure Brass’ have managed to capture the golden ratio of luxurious hand polished brass combined with rich (almost enamelled) gloss white. The well-considered simple geometry of the range helps to emphasise this relationship. http://www.purebrass.co.uk
The trend isn’t isolated to product. Many of the top interior designers are showcasing work with prominent gold and white themes. The team at Workstead created this stunning kitchen keeping to their signature pallet of strong and rich, yet simple and efficient. The kitchen is shown with one of Workstead’s signature brass 3-Arm Industrial Chandeliers. http://www.workstead.com
Whilst many of these designs air on the side of serious, ‘The Alfred’ Faux Deer Head by WhiteFauxTaxidermy is an excellent example of embracing the trend with a little tong in cheek. This Faux white deer head with gilded gold antlers would certainly make an excellent conversation piece in any home and sure to grab the attention of even the most restrained guest. http://www.whitefauxtaxidermy.com
